How to apply
The mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and mica – music austria invite 10 young European musicians from all genres to participate in the training programme Tuning In! Routes to a Career in the Music Sector.
Advanced students and recent graduates (within 5 years of graduation) from Higher Music Education Institutions from all over Europe and all musical genres and sub-sectors who aim for an international career in the music sector are invited to apply to participate in this programme.
Eligible are individuals associated as described above with an HMEI in an EU Member State as well as in Iceland, Norway, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, the Republic of Serbia, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Tunisia, Armenia, and Kosovo.
A group of ten participants will be selected, with the jury aiming to ensure a diverse range in terms of musical genre and/or sub-sector as well as balance in terms of nationality, HMEIs, and gender.
All in-person teaching modules will take place on the premises of the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna or mica – music austria in Vienna, Austria.
Tuning In! is co-funded by the European Union. Participation in this training programme is free of charge. Participants' travel and lodging expenses will be covered; any additional expenses must be borne by the participants.
How to apply?
The programme is open to five participants from European HMEIs as well as five participants from the mdw. Eligible are advanced students and recent graduates (within 5 years of graduation).
Required application materials:
- a motivational letter that describes one’s current situation as well as goals and artistic vision, while also outlining prospective career plans (in English)
- a CV (in English)
- nomination of three potential mentors (internationally accomplished musicians or other types of protagonists in the music business) (in English)
- for graduates: a scan of one’s graduation document
Applications will be reviewed by an international jury comprised of experts from the mdw, mica – music austria and AEC – Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen as well as another independent international expert.
Please ensure that you will be able to participate in the entire programme in order to benefit fully from this tailor-made course of training. Participants will be asked to sign a letter of commitment.
