Augusta Campagne

Born in the Netherlands, Augusta Campagne studied Music at the University of Sussex (BA (hons) 1977) and harpsichord at the Sweelinck Conservatorium Amsterdam with Ton Koopman (diploma 1984). From 1984-88 she studied at the Schola Cantorum Basilisiensis (CH), organ with Jean-Claude Zehnder and Figuredbass with Jesper Bøje Christensen, simulataneously working there as an accompanist.

She has participated in numerous radio and CD recordings and has performed all over Europe and in Brazil, as a soloist as well as in various smaller and larger ensembles.

Since 1989 teacher of Figuredbass in Vienna. Since 2004 she also teaches harpsichord as a main instrument („Habilitation“).

Research on the beginnings of basso continuo: article publicized in Basler Jahrbuch für Historische Musikpraxis, currently preparing a PhD on the subject.

 

Augusta Campagne enjoys teaching. Many of her former students are active continuo-players, working as accompanists in various music universities in Austria and abroad, as well as collaborating with well-known conductors and ensembles.
