Stefan Mendl

Stefan Mendl was born in Vienna.
Piano lessons with Manfred Wagner-Artzt and later studies with Alexander Jenner at the University of Music in Vienna.
In his early years he appeared regularly as a soloist in Austria and abroad.
He was a founding member of the Vienna Piano Trio in 1988 which after studies with artists like the Trio di Trieste, the Haydn Trio-Wien, the Beaux Arts Trio, Isaac Stern, Jaime Laredo and members of the LaSalle-and Guarneri Quartets soon became one of Europes foremost chamber ensembles. Since then the ensemble has appeared in literally most of the major chamber-music venues in Europe and overseas and in many of the major chamber-music festivals.
Numerous CD recordings for the Naxos,Nimbus and MDG-labels found international acclaim.
In 2010/11 the Vienna Piano Trio was Ensemble in Residence at London’s Wigmore-Hall and has been resident piano trio at the Konzerthaus in Vienna (Mozartsaaal) since the 2006/7 season.
Stefan Mendl appears frequently in duo-recitals with cellist Clemens Hagen and works regularly with artists like Jörg Widmann, Daniel Sepec, Ruth Ziesak and Donna Brown.
He was giving masterclasses at Wigmore-Hall-London, the Royal College of Music-London, the Toronto Summer Music Academy as well as in the United States.
