Clara Schumann's flower album is the starting point for this evening. She collected dried flowers in this little book to give to Johannes Brahms as a gift. The program revolves around the themes of love, friendship, and nature as a resonance chamber for emotion. Students from the mdw perform chamber music by Franz Schubert, Clara, and Robert Schumann. The concert also remains true to the Romantic era in its choice of instruments, using a fortepiano instead of a modern grand piano. Between the musical pieces, Marlena Reinwald reads poems from the same era, including works by Novalis, Heinrich Heine, and Helmina von Chézy. Stefan Gottfried is the musical director for the evening.
