MTH - Musiktherapie

The Bachelor of Arts in Music Therapy qualifies its recipients to practice their profession with shared responsibility as defined in the Austrian Music Therapy Act. It includes practice-oriented training in conformance with the ministerial training ordinance.

In Viennese music therapy training, the clinical fields of child and youth psychiatry, psychiatry, and psychosomatic medicine have traditionally played a central role. And in this program, the central subject of “Praxeology” forms the link between theory and practice in terms of music therapy-related competencies.

The Music Therapy BA programme at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna includes scientific as well as artistic and therapeutic professional training in order to provide initial qualification for professional activities that require the application of scientific as well as artistic and/or therapeutic knowledge and methods. The Music Therapy BA programme is designed to be a full-time, in-person programme of study.
