Lebenslauf

Jana Erjavec studierte Musikwissenschaft an der Universität Ljubljana und schloss dort 2019 ihr Masterstudium ab. Während ihres Studiums verbrachte sie als ERASMUS+-Austauschstudentin ein Studienjahr an der Universität Leipzig. Derzeit steht sie kurz vor dem Abschluss ihres Doktoratsstudiums im Fach Musikwissenschaft an der Universität Ljubljana mit einer Dissertation zum Thema „Die Musik in der Kirche St. Daniel in Celje im 18. und 19. Jahrhundert“.

Von 2019 bis 2024 war sie als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin (Prae-Doc) am Forschungszentrum der Slowenischen Akademie der Wissenschaften und Künste (ZRC SAZU) tätig und arbeitete in mehreren von der Slowenischen Forschungs- und Innovationsagentur (ARIS) geförderten Projekten mit, darunter Old Traditions in New Vestments (Projektleiterin: Dr. Katarina Šter). Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen auf Kontrafakturen, Handschriftenkultur und materiellen Aspekten der Überlieferung geistlicher Musik.

Seit Jänner 2026 ist sie Projektmitarbeiterin an der mdw – Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien im Forschungsprojekt Papier und Kopisten in Wiener Opernpartituren 1725–1759 (Projektleiter: Dr. Martin Eybl), wo sie sich mit Kopistenpraktiken, der Zirkulation von Papier sowie mit den materiellen Bedingungen der Herstellung von Opernpartituren im Wien des 18. Jahrhunderts beschäftigt.

Methodisch verbindet sie Archivforschung, Quellenkritik und paläographische Analyse mit digitalen Methoden der Musikwissenschaft. Sie ist Mitglied der slowenischen RISM-Arbeitsgruppe und Mitarbeiterin der digitalen Forschungsplattform MUSIQUM (Projektleiterin: Dr. Maruša Zupančič). Seit 2025 ist sie Vorstandsmitglied der Slowenischen Musikwissenschaftlichen Gesellschaft.

Biography

Jana Erjavec studied Musicology at the University of Ljubljana, where she completed her MA in 2019. During her studies, she spent an ERASMUS+ exchange period at the University of Leipzig. She is currently completing her doctoral studies in Musicology at the University of Ljubljana. Her dissertation examines the musical archive of the Church of St Daniel in Celje, situating local sacred repertories within broader Central European networks of transmission, adaptation, and performance practice.

From 2019 to 2024, she was employed as an Research Assistant (Young Researcher) at the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU), where she participated in several research projects funded by the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency

(ARIS), including Old Traditions in New Vestments (project leader: Dr Katarina Šter). Her research focused on contrafacta, manuscript culture, and the material transmission of sacred music.

Since January 2026, she has been a project associate at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in the research project Papier und Kopisten in Wiener Opernpartituren 1725–1759 (project leader: Dr Martin Eybl), where she investigates copying practices, paper circulation, and the material production of opera scores in eighteenth-century Vienna.

Her research combines archival work, source criticism, and palaeographic analysis with digital humanities methodologies. She is a member of the Slovenian national working group of RISM and contributes to the MUSIQUM digital research platform (project leader: Dr Maruša Zupančič). Since October 2025, she has served as Executive Board Member and Treasurer of the Slovenian Musicological Society.
