SELECTION AUDITION
of the Fritz Kreisler Institute

 

Annual institute-internal selection audition for the awarding of loaned instruments, ranking for scholarships, performance opportunities. Participation for students of all central artistic subjects of the study program of the Fritz Kreisler Institute.

 

Preliminary Round:
Thursday, April 23, 2026

Final round:
Friday, April 24, 2026

 

 

Participation for students of all zkF Study programs at the Fritz Kreisler Institute, including postgraduate. VBL students are eligible for the preliminary round.

Thursday, April 23, 2026: Preliminary round within the instrument groups.
Friday, April 24, 2026: Final round, Seilerstätte/Festsaal from 9:00 AM.

Program:

  • Violin: First movement of a Mozart violin concerto (with cadenza) and a piece from another stylistic era.

  • Viola, Violoncello, Double Bass: One classical piece and one piece from another stylistic era.

  • Harp: One piece from the Classical or Baroque period and one piece from another stylistic era.

  • Guitar: One piece from the Classical or Romantic period.

Performance Duration: Maximum 10 minutes. The jury reserves the right to interrupt performances exceeding the time limit.

Final Round: The program from the preliminary round will be repeated in the final.

Accompaniment: Participants are responsible for arranging their own accompanists.

Students intending to apply for a scholarship (e.g., Feiling Foundation, Global Foundation, etc.) are required to participate in the audition. The institute's administration cannot provide recommendations for scholarship foundations otherwise.
Note: Scholarships must be applied for separately (see various scholarship announcements).

The preliminary round is mandatory for violin students who currently have or wish to apply for a loan instrument from mdw.
