Professor Svetlana Makarova is a renowned violinist who is distinguished by her virtuoso, authentic and radiant style. She is an active participant in the most prestigious festivals

and masterclasses and a successful teacher who has trained numerous competition winners at several international colleges and universities. 

On 20th of August 2025, Svetlana Makarova was appointed professor of violin at the Fritz Kreisler Institute and will begin teaching violin as a core artistic subject at our institute on 1 October 2025!!!

First concertmaster of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, soloist and prizewinner of numerous violin competitions and former graduate of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna,

Professor Anton Sorokow,

took over as Director of the Fritz Kreisler Institute at the mdw on 1st of October 2024!!!

We congratulate Prof. Sorokow on this honorable position and wish him every success in his new tasks during his term of office at the Fritz Kriesler Institute!!!

Univ.-Prof. Dalibor Karvai is our new violin professor at the Fritz Kreisler Institute from 01.11.2023!!!
Professor Karvai is a prizewinner of numerous international competitions and 1st concertmaster of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. Professor Karvai is constantly striving to explore innovative possibilities of violin technique and sound. His playing is characterized by extreme precision and flawless purity.
