Dr. Noramin Farid (Soultari Amin Farid) is a Singaporean choreographer, arts educator, and scholar-activist whose work explores the intersections of dance, politics, and social transformation. He is a Senior Lecturer in Dance at Universiti Malaya, where his research examines Malay dance as a site for minority representation, gender critique, and intercultural dialogue. A co-founder of DIAN Dancers (youth Malay dance collective), Arki-Gen (Southeast Asian research network), and Ruai Kolektif (Bornean arts platform), Noramin actively mentors young practitioners and builds cross-border collaborations to sustain cultural practices while addressing contemporary social challenges. He has received regional recognition for his leadership, including the ASEAN-India Youth Award (2018), Singapore Youth Award (2017), and Goh Chok Tong Mendaki Youth Promise Award (2016). Through his choreography, scholarship, and community initiatives, he positions dance as a tool for resilience, inclusivity, and sustainable cultural futures, empowering youth as agents of change in the arts.
