Concert & Announcement of the competition
Fr June 16th, 2023 | 7.00 pm
Franz Liszt-Saal, mdw
Lothringerstraße 18
1030 Vienna
free entrance
This final concert is preceded by a long project history: the announcement of a composition competition for the setting on music of selected poems by female lyricists makes the artistic work of female artists audible and visible.
Last year, as hmdw's contribution to Vienna Pride with the same title "Eine Stimme steht im Dunkel...*", this composition competition was announced and an ambitious concert was performed with pieces by female composers that may make a lasting impression on the mdw's program repertoire. The goal of the activities of the hmdw Department for Equality and Diversity - formerly the hmdw Department for Women's Policy and Queer -, has always been to contribute to Vienna Pride with an event of its own.
The title of the competition as well as the final concert "Eine Stimme steht im Dunkel..." refers to the poem "Die Stimme aus dem Dunkel" by Elsabeth Meinhard (1887-1927). From the numerous submissions, three works were awarded, which will be premiered at this final concert and mark the closing of the project.
