Redeem PIN code for mdwOnline, set up mdw mailbox
Once you have received the payment, you can activate your mdwOnline access. You no longer need the applicant account that you created for the registration for the admission exam. You will now have a student account.
This is how you activate your student account, which you can use to register for courses and exams and print out transcripts and study confirmations:
- Go to online.mdw.ac.at on a Laptop or desktop computer. (Please note: PINs cannot be entered on mobile devices.)
- Find the words “Enter your PIN code here:” and click on the “Students” link.
- A new page will appear. Enter your PIN, your eight-digit matriculation number, and your date of birth.
- You now have five minutes to choose your passwords (for your mdwOnline account, for your E-Mail account, and for WiFi access).
- You can access it at webmail.mdw.ac.at. To log into this e-mail account, enter your mdwOnline username and e-mail password.
- Your mdwOnline account is now created and you have received an @students.mdw.ac.at mailbox as well as a personal storage space on the mdw file server.
- If your address or phone number changes: Log in to mdwOnline, click on the tile "Study and home address" and enter the new data here.
Important! All messages from mdw will be sent to your mdw mail address. Check your mailbox regularly.
4. Activate your mdw Card
Activate your mdw Card (Student ID card)
When you enrol at the Studies Center, you’ll also receive your student ID card. This card can be activated three business days after payment of your tuition fee and/or ÖH dues at the earliest. To activate your card, you’ll need to insert it into one of our card validators. These have been set up at various mdw locations:
- Anton-von-Webern-Platz 1, 1030 Vienna (in the corridor outside the Studies Center)
- Rennweg 8, 1030 Vienna
- Seilerstätte 26, 1010 Vienna
- Penzinger Straße 7 – 9, 1140 Vienna
Now your mdwCard is valid (until the date printed on it). Every semester, you’ll need to revalidate your ID card at one of these validators. If your card gets stolen or lost, you can obtain a duplicate at the Studies Center upon presentation of an official theft or loss report.
The mdwCard is much more than just an ID card. By topping up your credit, you can print, copy and scan at the copying machines in the corridors. In the auditorium at Anton-Von-Webern-Platz under the stairs, there is a recharging device for this purpose. A discounted menu can be consumed in the cafeteria. The card also serves as your library card in the University library and you can only get keys to practice rooms upon represenation of your card.
