German Courses at the mdw

For students whose mother tongue is not German, our university currently offers the following German courses. (These provide general training at the respective levels plus texts and exercises having to do with music.):

Courses for German Language Competence B1
6 hrs. per week, € 350 per semester

This course lasts one academic year; if sufficient skills are already present, it is possible to attend only the second (i.e. summer) semester.

Course levels: A1 (October) to B1 (June)

Target group: individuals who are preparing to study at the mdw as well as students in their first year of studies (above all musical and instrumental studies)

The summer semester grade reports an accepted form in which to document German skills for certain musical and instrumental studies.

Courses for German Language Competence B2
6 hrs. per week, € 350 per semester

This course lasts one academic year; if sufficient skills are already present, it is possible to attend only the second (i.e. summer) semester.

Course levels: B2.1 (October) to B2.2 (June)

Target group: The course serves to acquire knowledge of the German language or to improve basic language skills, with a special focus on the language skills necessary for studying at the mdw University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.This programme helps advanced participants (who have attained Level B1.2) advance to Level B2.2.

The summer semester grade reports an accepted form in which to document German skills for certain musical and instrumental studies.
