Jan Pospichal
 
geboren 1954 in Prag in einer Musikerfamilie. Im Alter von sieben Jahren erster  Violinunterricht von seinem Vater. Ab 14. Lebensjahr Musikstudium am Prager Konservatorium bei Prof. Vladimir Rejsek  und Musikhochschule Prag (1976 Diplomprüfung mit Auszeichnung) bei Prof. Alexander Plocek. Weitere Studien an der Hochschule f. Musik in Wien bei Prof. Franz Samohyl, sowie an internationalen Meisterkursen von Nathan Milstein in Zürich.
Preisträger folgender Wettbewerben: Concertino Praga (1969), Prager Frühling (1976), Hummel Wettbewerb (Zagreb) und Mozart Wettbewerb (1978 Salzburg).
Seit 1982 Mitglied des Kammermusikensembles Wiener Streichtrio verbunden mit internationale Konzerttätigkeit in allen Städten Europas und Übersee, Auftritten bei internationalen Festivals und eigenen Kammermusikzyklen in Musikverein und Konzerthaus Wien sowie die Einspielung der gesamten Streichtrioliteratur  auf CD´s.
Solistische Auftritte und CD´s Aufnahmen im In- und Ausland mit namhaften Dirigenten wie Wolfgang Sawallisch, Vladimir Fedosejev, Lorin Maazel, Jiri Belohlavek, Zdenek Macal, Fabio Luisi, Marcello Viotti, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos.
1980 Engagement bei den Wiener Symphonikern, seit 1982 deren 1. Konzertmeister.
Seit 1995 Unterrichtstätigkeit  an der Universität f. Musik und darstellende Kunst in Wien zuerst als Lehrbeauftragte für Orchesterliteratur, ab 1996 als Gastprofessor für Violine,
als Dozent bei  Meisterkursen für Violine und Sommerkursen der „Jeunesse musicale“ in Salzburg und Jurorentätigkeit bei verschiedenen Wettbewerben.
Ab 1999  o. Univ.  Prof. für Konzertfach Violine an der Universität für Musik in Wien.
 
 
Born in 1954 in Prag, Jan Pospichal started playing the violin at the age of seven. At 14 he entered the Prague Conservatory to continue his studies with Prof. Vladimir Rejsek. In 1976 he received his degree from the Prague Academy of Music studied under Prof. Alexander Plocek.
Among the most prestigious competitions that Jan Pospichal has won are the Concertino Praga (1969), the Beethoven Competition (1971), Prague spring (1976), the Hummel Competition and the Mozart Competition in Salzburg (1978).
Further studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Prof. Franz Samohyl, as well as participation in the international masterclases of Nathan Milstein (in Zurich).
Since 1980 he has been a member of Vienna Symphony Orchestra and since 1982 its first concert master. In addition to this since 1996 he has been a lecturer for orchestra literature at the University of Music and Performing Arts, since 1997 also a guest Professor for Violin, and since 1999 he has held a professorship for violin at the Vienna University of Music.
He is also professor at many master classes in Europe and Asia.
Jan Pospichal has worked with such internationally acclaimed conductors as Wolfgang Sawallisch, Vladimir Fedosejev, Lorin Maazel, Jiri Belohlavek, Zdenek Macal, Fabio Luisi, Marcello Viotti, and Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos.
As soloist he has completed many concert tours, TV and CD recordings in Europe, America and eastern Asia. Jan Pospichal is a head of the Vienna string trio and many other chamber music projects.
