Mit einem Grant in Höhe von 1,5 Millionen Euro fördert die Europäische Union das Projekt TEAM - Teacher Education Academy for Music. Future-Making, Mobility and Networking in Europe im Rahmen des Drittmittel-Programms Erasmus+ Teacher Academies. Als eines von 16 neuen Projekten in dieser Förderlinie will TEAM das Netzwerk für die Musikpädagogik an Schulen und Institutionen aller Phasen der Musiklehrer:innenbildung stärken, die Mobilität fördern und zukunftsweisendes Material für die Musikpädagogik bereitstellen. TEAM ist ein europaweites kooperatives Forschungs- und Entwicklungsnetzwerk, das eng mit der European Association for Music in School (EAS) zusammenarbeitet. Es zielt darauf ab, die Musiklehrer:innenbildung in Europa und das Fach Musik in der allgemeinbildenden Schule neu zu gestalten. Dabei werden aktuelle Herausforderungen der Professionalisierung von Musiklehrer:innen wie die Digitalisierung, interkulturelles Lernen, gesellschaftliche Transformation, Nachhaltigkeit und sozialer Kohärenz zum Thema gemacht.
TEAM strebt dies durch die Entwicklung von zukunftsweisenden musikpädagogischen OERs (Nachhaltigkeit, Demokratisierung, Digitalisierung) für die drei Phasen der Lehrer:innenbildung an. Zudem werden Programme zur Stärkung der Mobilität im Studium entwickelt, wobei ein besonderer Schwerpunkt auf qualitativ hochwertigen Schulpraktika im Ausland mit Mentoring aus länderübergreifender Perspektive liegt. Eine vergleichende Darstellung der Bildungssysteme in Schulen und Universitäten in den beteiligten Ländern soll die internationale Zusammenarbeit zukünftig erleichtern. Die TEAM-Learning Outcomes for Teacher Education werden das Wissen aus allen TEAM-Ergebnissen zusammenfassen und zu einem nützlichen curricularen Strategiepapier weiterentwickeln. Es soll der Qualitätssicherung in der Musiklehrer:innenbildung und der schulischen Musikpädagogik in den europäischen Ländern dienen.
Mit einem breiten und vielfältigen Ansatz will TEAM aktuelle Probleme des Schulfachs Musik in Europa ansprechen und eine Dynamik des Wandels schaffen. Auf diese Weise soll langfristig ein musikpädagogisches Netzwerk in Europa gefördert werden. Eine enge Beziehung zu den europäischen Musikverbänden, allen voran dem Europäischen Schulmusikverband EAS, stellt sicher, dass TEAM auch nach Projektende weiter wirken kann. 14 Partnerinstitutionen (Schulen, Hochschulen und Weiterbildungseinrichtungen) aus 12 europäischen Ländern mit hoher Expertise in den erforderlichen Bereichen werden zusammenarbeiten. Das Netzwerk wird durch eine Vielzahl von Assoziierten Partnern aus den 12 Konsortialländern sowie aus 12 weiteren europäischen Ländern sowie europäischen NGOs im Bereich Musik ergänzt. Das Projekt hat eine Laufzeit von Juni 2023 bis Mai 2026 und wird von der mdw koordiniert.
Im November 2025 bzw. im Frühjahr 2026 werden ein Projektmeeting bzw. ein Outreach Event an der mdw stattfinden.

The European Union is providing a grant of €1.5 million to support the TEAM – Teacher Education Academy for Music. Future-Making, Mobility and Networking in Europe project as part of the Erasmus+ Teacher Academies third-party funding programme. As one of 16 new projects in this funding line, TEAM aims to strengthen the network for music education in schools and institutions at all stages of music teacher training, promote mobility and provide forward-looking material for music education. TEAM is a Europe-wide cooperative research and development network that works closely with the European Association for Music in School (EAS). It aims to redesign music teacher training in Europe and the subject of music in general schools. In doing so, it addresses current challenges in the professionalisation of music teachers, such as digitalisation, intercultural learning, social transformation, sustainability and social cohesion.
TEAM strives to achieve this by developing forward-looking OERs (sustainability, democratisation, digitalisation) for music education for the three phases of teacher training. In addition, programmes are being developed to strengthen mobility for students, with a particular focus on high-quality school placements abroad with mentoring from a transnational perspective. A comparative presentation of the education systems in schools and universities in the participating countries is intended to facilitate international collaboration in the future. The TEAM Learning Outcomes for Teacher Education will summarise the knowledge gained from all TEAM results and develop it into a useful curricular strategy paper. It is intended to serve quality assurance in music teacher training and school music education in European countries.
With a broad and diverse approach, TEAM aims to address current issues in music education in Europe and create a dynamic for change. In this way, it aims to promote a long-term music education network in Europe. Close ties with European music associations, above all the EAS, will ensure that TEAM can continue to have an impact even after the project has ended. Fourteen partner institutions (schools, universities and further education institutions) from twelve European countries with a high level of expertise in the required areas will work together. The network will be complemented by a large number of associated partners from the twelve consortium countries as well as from twelve other European countries and European NGOs in the field of music. The project will run from June 2023 to May 2026 and will be coordinated by the mdw.
A project meeting and an outreach event will take place at the mdw in November 2025 and spring 2026, respectively.
