Thomas Nußbaumer, born in Hall in Tirol. Studied musicology and German language and literature at the University of Innsbruck, doctorate in 1998, habilitation in 2010 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in the field of folk music research. Since 1995, employee at the Innsbruck branch of the Mozarteum University Salzburg. Head of the Department of Musical Ethnology at the Department of Musicology. Numerous research projects and publications on folk music in western Austria and South Tyrol, music and customs, carnival, music in the Nazi era, and the music of the Old Order Amish in Iowa.
