Werner Rohrer studierte Instrumentalpädagogik (Saxophon Klassik mit Schwerpunkt EMp) am J. J. Fux-Konservatorium Graz, an der mdw Wien sowie Jāzepa Vītola Latvijas Mūzikas Akadēmia in Riga. Masterstudium Elementare Musik- und Bewegungspädagogik am Orff-Institut der Universität Mozarteum Salzburg. Aktuell Promotionsstudium Musikpädagogik an der Universität Mozarteum Salzburg.
Lehrtätigkeit an der Privaten Pädagogischen Hochschule PPH Augustinum Graz sowie Unterrichtstätigkeit als Elementarer Musikpädagoge u.a. an der Musikschule Kapfenberg. Internship an der San Francisco School in den USA (2019). Seit 2021 an der mdw tätig.
Musiker, Arrangeur und Komponist in unterschiedlichen Formationen. Musikvermittlungsprojekte und Performances u.a. für die Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg, Jeunesse Österreich und Grazer Spielstätten. Konzeption, Moderation und Evaluation kooperativer Mitmachkonzerte mit dem Orchester der Stadt Kapfenberg.
Forschungs- und Arbeitsschwerpunkte:
- Elementare musikalische und bewegte Fähigkeiten im Grundschulkontext
- Body Percussion und „Stab-Spiel“ als Medium des Elementaren Musizierens
- Kreativitätsförderung in EMp-Unterrichtsprozessen
- Virtuelle Unterrichtsräume: Gestaltung prozesshafter musikalisch-bewegter Angebote für Online-Learning für Schüler*innen im Kindergarten- und Grundschulalter
(University Assistant (PraeDoc) for Elemental Music Pedagogy)
Werner Rohrer studied instrumental pedagogy (classical saxophone, specialising in EMP) at the Graz Conservatory, the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), and the Jāzepa Vītola Latvian Academy of Music in Riga. He also completed a Master's degree in Elemental Music and Movement Pedagogy and his doctoral studies (PhD) at the Orff Institute/Mozarteum University Salzburg.
He taught at the Private University of Teacher Education PPH Augustinum Graz, as well as at the Kapfenberg Music School as an Elemental Music teacher. He went on an internship at the San Francisco School in the USA in 2019. Since 2022, he is University Assistant for Elemental Music Pedagogy at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw).
He is a musician, arranger and composer who performs with various ensembles. He participates in music mediation projects and performances for the Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg, Jeunesse Austria and Grazer Spielstätten. He has also conceptualised numerous collaborative, participatory concerts with the Kapfenberg City Orchestra.
