Mojca Piškor earned PhD in Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. From 2013 to 2025 she held the position of Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology at the Musicology Department of the Academy of Music in Zagreb. Since 2025 she is permanently employed as Research Associate at the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research in Zagreb, where from 2001 to 2013 she held the position of Research Assistant. Her field of interest includes issues pertaining to the nexus of music, sound and politics (gender, race, migration). In recent years she has focused her research on the acoustemological aspects of contemporary irregularized migration, as well as the role of music and sound in carceral regimes of political labour and concentration camps (Islands of Sv. Grgur and Goli; Jasenovac).
