Monika Rak studierte Lehramt Musikerziehung und kombinierte Religionspädagogik an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien und Universität Wien.
Ihre Unterrichtstätigkeit in unterschiedlichsten Schultypen im Fach Musikerziehung, Kreativer Ausdruck, Chorgesang und Religion führten sie ans Caritas Ausbildungszentrum Wien, ans BORG Deutsch-Wagram und ans Evangelische Realgymnasium Wien Donaustadt.
Projekte mit standort- u. länderübergreifenden Schulchören (Erasmus-Projekt 'Anders sein – gemeinsam') und interdisziplinäre Projekte zum Thema 'Komponistinnen' bildeten und bilden wesentliche Schwerpunkte ihres pädagogischen Wirkens.
Für die KPH Wien/Krems und den Verein 'Medien in Schule und Ausbildung' war sie in der Lehrer:innenfortbildung zum Thema 'Ethik und Verantwortung im Journalismus' als Organisatorin und Vortragende tätig und publizierte zahlreiche Unterrichtsmaterialien.
Darüber hinaus absolvierte sie Lehrgänge zu 'Globalem Lernen', 'Individueller Lernbegleitung' und die Ausbildung zur 'Schulentwicklungsberaterin'.
Seit November 2022 ist sie Universitätsassistentin im Fachbereich Allgemeine Musikpädagogik am Institut für musikpädagogische Forschung und Praxis.
Ihr Forschungsinteresse gilt dem Thema der Hör- und Sichtbarkeit von Komponistinnen und ihren Werken im schulischen Musikunterricht, in Schulbüchern und digitalen Unterrichtsmaterialien.

Monika Rak studied Music and Religious Education at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and the University of Vienna. She has extensive teaching experience in diverse school forms, focusing on Music Education, Creative Expression, Choir Singing, and Religious Studies.
Her educational work emphasizes interdisciplinary and international projects, such as the Erasmus initiative 'Being Different – Together' with cross-national school choirs, and projects centered on women composers.
As an organizer and lecturer, Monika Rak has also contributed to teacher trainings on 'Ethics and Responsibility in Journalism' for the KPH Vienna/Krems and the association 'Media in School and Training'. She has published various teaching materials in this context.
She completed further training in 'Global Learning', 'Individual Learning Support', and holds certification as a School Development Consultant.
Since November 2022, Monika Rak has been a University Assistant in the Department of Music Education Research and Practice. Her research focuses on the representation and recognition of women composers and their works in school music curricula, textbooks, and digital teaching resources.
