studierte klassische Gitarre an der Musikuniversität Graz und Jazzgitarre am Konservatorium der Stadt Wien. Außerdem Workshops bei Butch Morris, Hary Pepl, Mike Stern, Joe Diorio, Alegre Correa uvm.
Als Gitarrist ist Edmund Köhldorfer im klassischen Umfeld und gleichzeitig im Jazz und Pop-Bereich tätig. So spielt(e) er z.B. mit Biréli Lagrène, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Barbara Dennerlein, Tom Lang, Stewart Copeland, Stephane Grappelli, Benjamin Schmid, Thomas Gansch, Georg Breinschmid, Global Kryner, Klangforum Wien, Wiener Symphoniker, Tonkünstler Orchester, RSO, Dancing Stars uvm.
Außerdem machte er sich als Solokünstler einen Namen und veröffentlichte mehrere Produktionen unter eigenem Namen.
Mit Benjamin Schmid gewann er den Councours International Menuhin in der Kategorie Jazz, mit Global Kryner vertrat er Österreich beim Song Contest und erhielt eine Goldene Schallplatte. Außerdem Amadeus Music Award und Prix Pantheon.
Edmund Köhldorfer unterrichtet am MSV Wienerwald Mitte und ist Lecturer an der mdw.
Edmund Köhldorfer studied Classical Guitar at the music university Graz (KUG) and Jazzguitar at the University of the City of Vienna (MUK). Further studies with Butch Morris, Hary Pepl, Mike Stern, Joe Diorio, Kurt Rosenwinkel and many more.
Edmund Köhldorfer works as a guitarist in the classic environment and at the same time in jazz and pop area. For example, he played with Biréli Lagrène, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Barbara Dennerlein, Tom Lang, Stewart Copeland, Stephane Grappelli, Benjamin Schmid, Thomas Gansch, Georg Breinschmid, Global Kryner, Klangforum, Wiener Symphoniker, Wiener Staatsoper, Radio Symphonie Orchester, Dancing Stars and many more.
He also a well-known solo artist and released several productions under his own name.
With Benjamin Schmid, he won the Councours International Menuhin in the Jazz category, with Global Kryner he represented Austria at the Eurovision Contest and received a Gold Award. Also Amadeus Music Award and Prix Pantheon.
Edmund Köhldorfer teaches at the MSV Wienerwald Mitte and is a lecturer at the MDW.
