The Office of the Dean of Research Programmes is responsible for the coordination, admission and management of the following study programmes:


The Graduate Centre of the mdw is a platform of the Dean's Office offering doctoral students and postdocs at the mdw advice, exchange and networking. Through its collaboration with other institutions (e.g. the Career Center of the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft), it provides doctoral students with networking opportunities and makes all the important information and funding opportunities for early career researchers available in the Graduate Centre Newsletter.

 

Responsibilities of the Office of the Dean of Research Programmes

 

  • Entrustment of scientific teaching across the full range of courses at the mdw
  • Teaching management
  •   Exams management
    • Organising entrance exams and assigning admitted students to teaching staff as required
    • Approval of the final exam boards
    • Organising final exams
  • Student administration for PhD studies in the following areas:
    • Admission
    • Exposé and Proposal Defence
    • Disputation
  • Graduate Center
  • Providing advice and support in the development of the curriculum in the area of teaching management
  • Support with statistical evaluations and reporting
  • Organising and moderating exchange forums
  • Nominations and jury work for various prizes and awards

In addition, the Dean's Office plays a key role in developing and refining curricula, working closely with the Vice-Rectorate for Academic Affairs, as well as the collegial decision-making bodies ("Stukos") of the Senate and Studies Centre on academic matters.
