Lizl Stein

 

Lizl Stein, Pianist, composer and pedagogue of musical improvisation, as well as author in the literary and fiction area.

Studied Piano at the University of Music and performing Arts, Vienna, and Jazz-Piano at the Conservatory, Vienna.

Concerts with various pop- and jazz-ensembles, mainly with her band „Liszl“, Cds: „Talk about Job-Sharing“ (1989), „How Come“ (1993), Austro Mechana-Award for composition (1987).

Literary cooperation as Koytek&Stein: Leo-Perutz-Award for „Der Posamentenhändler“(2011), various novels and short stories. Readings and performances at literary festivals in Austria und Switzerland.

Started teaching Piano and Instrumental Improvisation at the University of Music and performing Arts, Vienna, plus Didactics of Improvisation in 1990. Guest teacher for musical improvisation, as well as for creative writing.
