Lauge Dideriksen, BA MA
Since 2023, my research has been focused on time in music and music in time, and particularly on the notion of musical and rhythmical weight. By bringing findings from perceptual, neurological, and ethnomusicological studies of music into dialogue with ideas from philosophy, cognitive science, and music theory, I examine the functions and processes that make some moments of musical time more salient than others. Before that, a large part of my work was focused on transcribing archival recordings, with particular emphasis on fiddle music from Poland, Austria, and Belarus. In addition to my academic work, I play the fiddle and have played for dance since the age of nine.
