Paolo Bravi
Currently a teacher at ITE “Martini” in Cagliari (Italy), Paolo Bravi holds a Master’s Degree in “Lettere” (Humanities), with a specialization in Ethnomusicology (University “La Sapienza” of Rome, 1990; tutors: Prof. Diego Carpitella, Prof. Alberto Mario Cirese). He also holds two Ph.D. degrees: one in “Methodologies of Anthropological Research” (University of Siena, 2008; tutors: Prof. Giulio Angioni, Prof. Ignazio Macchiarella), and another in “Theories and History of Languages” (University of Sassari, 2013; tutors: Prof. Giancarlo Schirru, Prof. Bernard Lortat-Jacob).
His research focuses on the formal features and cultural values of spoken and singing voices in oral traditions, employing models, techniques, and research methods from both ethnomusicology and instrumental phonetics. In this field, he has published over sixty contributions (book chapters, conference proceedings, journal articles, etc.) and the monographs A sa moda campidanesa. Pratiche, poetiche e voci degli improvvisatori nella Sardegna meridionale (Nuoro: ISRE, 2010) and A boghe a boghe. Ricerche sulla poesia cantata in Sardegna (Cagliari: Condaghes, 2015).
