Studium des Magisterstudienganges Musik in den Massenmedien/Germanistik an der Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg (Deutschland). Promotion ebendort im Fach Musik zum Umgang von Black- und Death Metal Anhänger*innen mit ihrer Musik. Promotionsstipendiatin bei der Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes. Ab 2010 zunächst als Universitätsassistentin, später als Senior Scientist und Assistenzprofessorin am Institut für Musiksoziologie der mdw tätig. Elternkarenz 2017/2018. Mit Juli 2025 Wechsel an das Institut für musikpädagogische Forschung und Praxis.

• Geschichte(n), Theorien und Methoden der Musiksoziologie
• Methoden der empirischen Sozialforschung (und ihr Nutzen für die Musikforschung)
2023 Auszeichnung mit dem Ars Docendi – Staatspreis für exzellente Lehre (Kategorie Forschungsbezogene bzw. kunstgeleitete Lehre). National Representative Austria im deutschsprachigen Zweig der International Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM D-A-CH) zwischen 2018 und 2022. Langjährige Mitarbeit in verschiedenen Studienkommissionen der mdw (IGP, ME, Music in Society), Mitglied der Plattform Gender_mdw (seit 2017), Ersatzmitglied im Senat (seit 2016) und im Betriebsrat (seit 2020) der mdw.
Sarah Chaker studied Musicology and German at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg (Germany). Her dissertation is an extensive empirical study in which she examined the ways in which black and death metal devotees deal with their music. Doctoral Scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. From 2010 onwards, she worked first as a university assistant, later as a senior scientist and assistant professor at the Department of Music Sociology at the mdw. Parental leave in 2017/2018. In July 2025, change to the Department of Music Education Research and Practice.

National Representative Austria at the International Association for the Study of Popular Music – Germanspeaking Branch (IASPM-D-A-CH) between 2018 and 2022. Extensive committee experience in various study commissions at the mdw (IGP, ME, Music in Society), moreover Member of the Platform Gender_mdw (since 2017), alternate member of the mdw Senate (since 2016) and alternate member of the Staff Association for Research and Artistic Personnel at the mdw (since 2020).
