Magdalena studierte Lehramt für Mittelschule an der Pädagogischen Hochschule der Diözese Linz (Bachelor) sowie Lehramt für Musik- und Instrumentalmusikerziehung mit den Hauptfächern Chorleitung und Gesang an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (Bachelor, Master).
Von 2016-2025 war sie als Musikpädagogin an verschiedenen Wiener Schulen (Musikmittelschule, AHS, BHS) tätig- mit einem besonderen Fokus auf Stimmbildung und Kinderchorleitung. Als Fachkoordinatorin an einer Musikmittelschule umfasste ihr Aufgabenbereich unter anderem die Einstudierung von Schulmusicals, die Teilnahme an Wettbewerben sowie die musikalische Organisation des Schuljahres. Im Herbst 2024 begann sie die Ausbildung zur Mentorin.
Neben ihrer pädagogischen Tätigkeit ist sie als Sängerin in Chören und Ensembles sowie als Chorleiterin aktiv. Ihr musikalisches Repertoire reicht von klassischer Musik über Volksmusik bis hin zu Popmusik.
Ihre pädagogischen Schwerpunkte und Forschungsinteressen liegen in den Bereichen Chorleitung und Singen im schulischen Kontext, inklusiver Musikunterricht und Klassenmusizieren.
Am Anton- Bruckner- Institut der mdw unterrichtet sie seit 2024 im Bereich Kinder- und Jugendstimmbildung. Seit September 2025 ist sie als Universitätsassistentin am Institut für musikpädagogische Forschung und Praxis tätig.

Magdalena Hanspeter studied Secondary School Teacher Education at the University College of Education of the Diocese of Linz (Bachelor), as well as Music and Instrumental Music Education with a specialization in Choral Conducting and Vocal Technique at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (Bachelor, Master).
From 2016 to 2025, she worked as a music teacher at various schools in Vienna (a music-focused secondary school/middle school, an academic secondary school (AHS), and a vocational school (BHS)). During her work at those schools, she put an emphasis on vocal training and children’s choir conducting. As a subject coordinator at a music-focused secondary school, her responsibilities included staging school musicals, participating in competitions with her students, and organizing musical activities throughout the school year. In autumn 2024, she has started an additional educational path as a mentor.
Alongside her teaching work, she is active as a singer in choirs and ensembles. Furthermore, she is working as a choral conductor. Her musical repertoire includes classical music, folk music, and pop music.
Her pedagogical focus and research interests include singing in school settings, choral conducting, inclusive music education and music-making in classroom settings.
Since 2024, she has been teaching children’s and youth vocal training at the Anton Bruckner Institute of the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
As of September 2025, she is a University Assistant (PraeDoc) at the Institute for Music Education Research and Practice.
