Michael Huber

Michael Huber ist Univ. Prof. für Musiksoziologie an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (mdw). Studien der Soziologie und Erziehungswissenschaften an der Universität Wien, Master 1998 (Hubert von Goisern und die Musikindustrie), PhD 2006 (Kultursoziographie in Stadt, Gemeinde und Raum), Habilitation 2012 (Musikhören im Zeitalter Web 2.0). Er ist Vorstandsmitglied im Österreichischen Musikrat (ÖMR) und im Alumni-Netzwerk Musikpädagogik Wien. Forschungsschwerpunkte: Musikrezeption in der digitalen Mediamorphose, Strukturen des Musiklebens in Österreich, musikalische Sozialisation.

Michael Huber is a professor of Music Sociology at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw). He studied Sociology and Education at the University of Vienna, earning his master's degree in 1998 ('Hubert von Goisern and the music industry') and his PhD in 2006 (Cultural Sociology in Cities, Communities and Regions), habilitation in 2012 (Listening to Music in the Age of Web 2.0). He is a board member of the Austrian Music Council (ÖMR) and the Vienna Music Education Alumni Network. Research interests: music reception in the digital mediamorphosis, structures of musical life in Austria, musical socialisation.
