Alliance of Sustainable Universities

The Alliance of Sustainable Universities in Austria is a national alliance of 21 Austrian universities (as of Jan 2026) committed to sustainability issues.

The AG Art & Sustainability was founded 2024 with following goals

  • to explore the  transformative potential of art

  • to  strengthen the position of Arts within existing sustainability networks

  • to  raise awareness among artists  about the importance of artistic methods and approaches for transformative processes

  • to  collaborate in artistic research activities

 

Arts of Change - Change of Arts

Coaching and support program for students at all Austrian art universities

The project is run by the forum n association and financially supported by all six Austrian art universities: Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, University of Applied Arts Vienna, Mozarteum University Salzburg, University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, University of Art and Industrial Design Linz, as well as the Federal Ministry of Women, Science and Research (BMFWF).

In.Tune

In.Tune brings together eight European music and art academies committed to developing a joint long-term strategy with a strong artistic dimension for education, research and development.

Four key areas (shared education provision and mobility, research and innovation, societal engagement and governance and cooperation) are addressed in eight work packages, with each partner institution leading one of them.

The Vice-Rectorate for Organisational Development and Diversity at the mdw is leading Work Package 6 – Strengthening our engagement with society.

Within Work Package 6, a working group for sustainability has been established, in which the Coordination Office for Sustainability is involved.

 

UniNEtZ – Universitäten und Nachhaltige Entwicklungsziele

In an innovative alliance, scientists and artists from 23 partner institutions have joined together in the project UniNEtZ to contribute to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals

The UniNEtZ project represents a broad spectrum of competencies, which is essential when it comes to working in the field of sustainability. The mdw has been involved from the very beginning and participated in the following work packages:
