Science communication - YOUNG RESEARCH
Young Research / Young Science focuses on the involvement of children and young people in the research process, projects that make research tangible for young people and cooperation with schools.
Since 2023, the mdw has presented the mdw young research award, which honors pre-scientific papers (VWA, since 2025 ABA) and diploma theses on topics related to music and performing arts.
The Center for Citizen Science and the Young Science Center of the OeAD offer various opportunities to get in touch with students and schools. Science ambassadors can give workshops at schools to present their field of research and their day-to-day work as researchers. There is also the opportunity to suggest topics for pre-scientific work/diploma theses and provide further support for high school students.
DNAustria, an initiative of the bmbwf, offers a platform for science and democracy education programs aimed at children and young people. The primary target group is teachers who are looking for teaching materials/excursion destinations etc.: https://discover.dnaustria.at/
