Health and Wellbeing – Resources for International Students

International students at music universities often face unique pressures—academic, artistic, cultural, and personal. This event, organized by Marko Markanović, Sylff Fellow of the Tokyo Foundation, offers an opportunity to explore these challenges and discover practical resources for maintaining mental and physical wellbeing while studying at mdw and living in Vienna.

Programm

The program features three expert keynotes addressing essential aspects of student wellbeing:

Veronika Mörscher: The Invisible Load – Navigating Music University Life as an International Student
An exploration of the often-unseen emotional and psychological challenges international students encounter, with insights into navigating academic and cultural expectations.

Leonhard Königseder: Mentaltraining for Musicians: Ways to Deal with Pressure & Perfectionism
Strategies and mental techniques to help musicians manage performance pressure, perfectionism, and the demands of artistic excellence.

Coretta Kurth: Supporting Your Wellbeing: Mental and Physical Health at mdw and in Vienna
An overview of the support structures, services, and resources available both at mdw and throughout the city of Vienna.

Following the keynotes, participants are invited to join an open Q&A discussion, offering space for dialogue, shared experiences, and practical questions. The event will also include musical interludes, highlighting the artistic spirit of the mdw community.
