Alma Bejtullahu joined the MMRC home team from Ljubljana in June 2019.
Alma Bejtullahu completed her studies at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Arts, in the Department for Musicology.
Professional occupations mostly in non-research sectors. Parallel to her professional engagements, she worked since 2002 as an independent scholar in ethnomusicology, conducting fieldwork in Kosovo, Slovenia, North Macedonia etc. In her research she focuses on relations of power and subjectivity in various contexts, in her PhD research she studies the representation of women from post-migratory minorities and their musical and dance practices.
Alma Bejtullahu puts her ethnomusicological expertise to practical use by actively taking part in various groups that perform traditional multipart songs from Georgia and Albania as well as performs urban Albanian traditional songs as soloist.
