Like Science to your Ears - How to produce your own Science Podcast

We are starting the second round!

(Science) Podcasts are a global trend: they allow listeners to immerse themselves in topics, and they provide an in-depth insight into a wide variety of research issues. Podcasts allow for unique and individual dissemination using relatively simple technology. Produced as a series, they are technically sound, target group-oriented and very well suited for science communication.

As part of Wissenschaft im Ohr, we are looking for 4-5 young researchers (or teams) who are considering producing their very own science podcast.

The multi-part webinar accompanies the participants in the production of the first podcast episode. After getting to grips with the basic knowledge and skills for the production of a science podcast in module one, participants work independently on their own production over the summer. The second module offers individual support and feedback from the workshop team and, by module three, participants should have a workable version, ready for final tweaks. The programme concludes with a Hör-Café where we will listen to the podcasts together and exchange ideas and feedback.

The programme invites applications from young scholars from all scientific disciplines: we are looking for concepts (1-3 pages) for a pilot episode (10-15 minutes) to be produced during the workshop.

Applications are open until Thursday, 27 May 2021 via email: zethner@mdw.ac.at

Dates:

- Module 1 – Basics and first steps: Thursday, 17 June 2021, 9:30 am - 4:00 pm.

- Module 2 – Individual feedback and support (ca. 1 h): Thursday, 30 September 2021

- Module 3 – Hör-Café: Thursday, 28 October 2021, 15:00 - 18:30 pm

Please note that participation is only meaningful if you can commit to all sessions.

If needed, the programme can also be held in English - please let us know when registering.
