Klingende Zeitgeschichte im Ohr
A Podcast of the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna
The mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna was founded in 1817 and is one of the world's largest and most renowned universities for music, theater and film. In the podcast “Klingende Zeitgeschichte im Ohr”, we delve into the eventful past of the mdw. We tell side stories from the 20th century in which acts of resistance, dissonance and divergences play a role. Historical documents will be acoustically staged and provide insight into the ways in which people such as the rebellious student Lilly Pollak, the composer Arnold Schönberg and committed music educators have inscribed themselves in the history of the mdw. These stories were staged and made audible in a unique sound design with original compositions. The podcast is produced in German.
Participants: students, teachers, academics and artists of the mdw

Season 3
In the third season of Klingende Zeitgeschichte im Ohr (Contemporary History in Your Ears), we set out in search of clues. Once again, our starting point is the archive of the mdw, the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
Our archives contain many stories waiting to be discovered and told. The three chapters of our new season deal with a theatre that was lost to the mdw over the decades; a piano that was stolen during the Nazi era; and a magnificent rector's chain that seemingly disappeared without a trace in the 1930s.
Join us as we trace these stories, interview experts and embark on our search in archives, libraries and even an old attic.
