The Structured Doctoral Program Performing Matters: Manifold Temporalities researches how various performing arts aesthetically engage overlapping forms of temporality. The research topics deal with the analysis of artworks and their reflection on temporality; the contextualization within practices and discourses in respective artistic fields; the links to changes in society and media and concomitant modes of reception; and with the further development of theoretical conceptions of temporality in performing arts.
The interdisciplinary program combines approaches from the scientific disciplines of Musicology, Theater Studies, Film and Media Studies, Philosophy, Performing Studies, Popular Music Studies. Gender Studies are established as a salient transdisciplinary interface.
