You’re holding in your hands the brand new issue of the mdw Magazine. As a worthy kick-off to our university’s bicentennial celebrations, we’ve renamed this publication and reconceived both its graphic design and its content.
With a newly expanded focus on service, we’d like to provide you with an even more extensive overview of the numerous artistic and scholarly events held by the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
The Special section in this issue, entitled “Success”, looks at the wide range of challenges faced by our students and graduates on the competitive international market. You can read about the constantly evolving requirements of various professions, about how the mdw’s Career Center—opened at the beginning of this October—can contribute to graduates’ success, and about further topics such as the significance of competitions and how elementary music education concepts from Vienna are changing China.
Finally, the challenges faced by a modern research institution are reflected in the contributions about the concept of open access and a project on academic integrity, both of which are currently of great relevance to university strategy.
I hope that this new issue of the mdw Magazine will have you looking forward to the highlights of our jubilee year, and I’ll look forward to seeing you at our many high-calibre mdw events.
