I am Maryam Zuhuri.
I study directing at Film Academy Vienna, where I’m currently enrolled in my second semester.
What do you think a directing student fundamentally needs to bring to the table?
In our initial films, many of us end up dealing with our own lives and personal experiences and that takes a lot of openness and courage.
What projects do you have coming up as part of your studies?
In our third semester, we’ll be doing a studio exercise: we’re going to build a petrol station shop set where we’ll then spend a month filming.
