New postgraduate programme in applied dramaturgy
March 2018 will witness the launch of the postgraduate programme in applied dramaturgy A!DRAMA at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
What does dramaturgy mean, and how might the future work of dramaturges take shape? How can concert series, contemporary theatre, art festivals, and new performing arts formats be conceived and realised? How does dramaturgical work change when the world gets turned upside down? And how are music and other performing arts reacting to current changes throughout society?
The postgraduate programme for applied dramaturgy in music and performing arts (A!DRAMA), geared to working professionals, is conceived to pursue precisely these questions as a dramatic laboratory where theoretical and practical study content are taught in combination. A!DRAMA is aimed at musicians, theatre professionals, artists, and researchers, and it engages in constant exchange with contemporary international artistic practice. The objective of A!DRAMA is to dare to do pioneering and transdisciplinary experiments and develop new artistic stances that are situated between and deal inquisitively with society, politics, philosophy, and history.
