Science communication - YOUNG RESEARCH

Young Research / Young Science focuses on the involvement of children and young people in the research process, projects that make research tangible for young people and cooperation with schools.

Since 2023, the mdw has presented the mdw young research award, which honors pre-scientific papers and diploma theses (short ABA) on topics related to music and performing arts.

For final (pre-scientific or artistic) projects as part of the Matura (Abschließende Arbeiten ABA), topics can be submitted. Support for pupils, such as assistance in finding relevant literature or arranging a visit to a research facility can be offered and highlighted via the OeAD-platform as well.

Science and arts ambassadors visit schools to introduce students to their respective disciplines and provide insight into the day-to-day work of researchers and artists; this can take the form of in-person or online workshops. In addition, digital formats or tools can be made available for classroom use. Proposals can be submitted through the OeAD. (Website in German only)

The Science Center Network offers coaching, training, and opportunities for exchange for science ambassadors.

If you are interested, we look forward to hearing from you and receiving information about programs/ideas for schools!
