Music of the Great Steppe: Sazgen Sazy

We cordially invite you to a concert of the folklore-ethnographic ensemble 'Sazgen Sazy' from Kazakhstan, which will take place on May 27 at 19:30 in cooperation with our institute in the Fanny Hensel Hall.

Initially, the ‘Sazgen Sazy’ ensemble was only called ‘Sazgen.’ It was the brainchild of Uzbekaly Zhanibekov, outstanding researcher, prominent public leader, historian, and scientist-ethnographer. In accordance with his initiative, the folklore-ethnographic ensemble ‘Sazgen Sazy’ was founded in 1981 under the Ykhlas Museum of Folk Music Instruments, named after the 112th chapter of the Quran (“sincerity”). The ‘Sazgen’ ensemble changed its name in 2003 and has since been called the folklore-ethnographic ensemble ‘Sazgen Sazy.’
