How does a true connection between stage and audience emerge?
Thanks to our collaboration with the Steinway & Sons Flagship Store on Opernring, which began in 2024, we are now exploring this essential question on a regular basis – in a very hands-on way – through the new concert series Young Pianists Lab.

Selected young pianists and chamber musicians from the preparatory program of the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna have the opportunity to gain valuable stage experience beyond the pressure of competitions and traditional performance formats. They design their own programs – from musical selection to personal presentation and moderation.

The intimate setting allows for direct dialogue between performers and audience, making each Young Pianists Lab concert an authentic and close-up musical experience.

This series is another important component of the mdw talent lab’s commitment to supporting young artists early in their development – encouraging artistic independence and exploring new forms of musical presentation.
