Markus Böggemann
On 1 October, Markus Böggemann assumed his professorship in musicology with an emphasis on analysis at the Department of Musicology and Performance Studies.

Böggemann studied to be a school music teacher alongside additional studies in musicology, history, and philosophy in Berlin, and he earned his doctorate in 2006 at the Berlin University of the Arts with a dissertation on Arnold Schönberg (Gesichte und Geschichte. Arnold Schönbergs musikalischer Expressionismus zwischen avantgardistischer Kunstprogrammatik und Historismusproblem, Vienna 2007).
He has taught in cities including Berlin, Potsdam, and Göttingen, while engagements as a visiting lecturer have also taken him to the Royal College of Music in London and the South African College of Music in Cape Town. From 2010 to 2022, he held a professorship in historical musicology at the University of Kassel. His research and publications concentrate on music from between the 18th and 20th centuries, cultural studies issues, and contemporary music.
