Inaugural concert of Antanina Kalechyts, Klaus Lang und Manuel Schuen

 

On March 14th the Inaugural concert of the professors Antanina Kalechyts, Klaus Lang und Manuel Schuen took place in St. Ursula. The audience could listen to music by Klaus Lang (premiere), Hermann Markus Pressl und Wolfgang Sauseng and also Gregorian Chant.

AV-Podcasts

The traditional Advent´s concert on December 17th 2025 in the church of St. Ursula was dedicated to Johann Sebastia Bach. The students of the institute performed the cantatas I and III from Bachs  "Weihnachtsoratorium" (Christmas Oratorio) BWV 248, conducted by students of the classes of Manuel Schuen und Sophia Khutsishvili, also from the institute.
The concert was a cooperation between the Institute for Organ, Organ Research and Church music and the Institute for Old Music (both mdw).

What´s new?

In January 2026 the sixth and so far last volume of the publication series Wiener Beiträge zu Orgel und Kirchenmusik was presented. The title of the new publication is "Kirche und Lied. Beiträge aus Wissenschaft und Praxis zum kirchlichen Singen im Wandel der Zeit, vornehmlich aus evangelischer Perpektive". Twelve notable authors helped to realise the volume by providing their articles

The publication can be ordered at the institute.





 


 

Our recently produced CD Die Hausorgel von Franz Schmidt, is now available at the institute. The compositions recorded here, spanning four centuries, show the complete potentialof this organ. The house organ of the Austrian composer Franz Schmidt is set up in St. Ursula church, which is part of the institute.

Prof. Roman Summereder presents compositions by Franz Schmidt, Johann Sebastian Bach, Johannes Brahms, Leoš Janáček and others.
