The Research Conclave (Klausur der Wissenschaften, short KdW) has established itself as a cross-departmental and cross-disciplinary event for researchers at the mdw. It offers researchers at the mdw the opportunity to network and to make research projects visible during the PosterCraze.

KdW2026 working groups: Looking forward – Impulses for the future
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Research Support Office at the mdw, the Research Conclave 2026 sees itself more than ever as an open forum for interdisciplinary exchange and joint reflection. With this in mind, we would like to draw attention to those topics that will shape scientific and artistic research work at the mdw in the coming years.
Inspired by the approach of future thinking, we propose that, as a scientific community that has achieved extraordinary things in recent years and has developed and expanded in many ways, we think ahead to the future: What challenges and responsibilities arise from issues such as AI, the erosion of democracy and the increasing demands of scientific work? What options for action are there? Which topics will be particularly relevant – and why?
The aim of the discussion is to gain a shared understanding and formulate ideas for future priorities. For the first time, we want to bring together different perspectives from the various career stages and plan the working groups accordingly.
