Artistic Doctoral Programme (Doctor Artium) Advancement Scholarship

This scholarship facilitates the production of outstanding dissertations at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Its concrete aim is to support the dissertation projects of up-and-coming protagonists of artistic research in the context of the mdw’s Doctor Artium programme while also lending visibility to their artistic research at the mdw.

Eligibility Criteria

• Enrolment in the mdw’s Doctor Artium Programme
• Completed coursework: Theory and Practice of Artistic Research (overview course) 1 and 2, Artistic Research Laboratory 1 and 2 (marks of at least “very good” / “good”)
• One’s initial phase must not exceed 4 semesters.
• One’s focus phase must not exceed 4 semesters.

Applicants must submit

• a completed application form
• a progress report on the past academic year (see dissertation agreement)
• a work plan pertaining to the applied-for scholarship period
• a brief description of one’s situation in study (max 1 A4 page)
• a letter of recommendation from one’s advising team
• a copy of one’s certificate of registration (Meldezettel) from the Central Register of Residence (ZMR)

Amount of support: € 700 to € 1,000 per person from October to July .
