Avoiding waste – separating rubbish (Template)

The best waste is that which is not produced at all.

The use of reusable instead of disposable packaging, repairing or renting instead of buying new items and passing on items that are no longer used are among the waste-preventing measures.

  • favour open drinks, food on crockery, milk and sugar without portion packaging, etc.

  • If possible, use online registrations or digital materials instead of paper printouts/handouts.

  • Use 100% recycled paper or chlorine-free bleached paper (TCF) for necessary printouts.

  • Use your own writing utensils.

  • Hand in your name badges at the information desk at the end of the event.

Not all waste is unusable

Waste is a valuable raw material for new products. Proper separation is important for both economic and ecological reasons.

Since 1 January 2025, single-use beverage packaging with a deposit logo has been taken back at all points of sale in Austria where it was issued. Information on the one-way deposit can be found at Recycling Pfand Österreich.

Please help to reduce residual waste by using the existing separation systems.

Separation fractions for paper, light plastic packaging/metal and residual waste are available at the event venue.

White/coloured glass and organic waste must be disposed of outside the mdw in the appropriate containers.
