Alternative titles | Il filosofo innamorato |
Il filosofo inamorato | |
Date of performance | - |
Dating of manuscript | 1763 |
Notes | Even though the manuscript is entitled “Il filosofo innamorato”, it does not contain Gassmann‘s opera of 1772, but an earlier adaption of the same text by Goldoni entitled “Filosofia ed amore”, an opera by Gassmann, first performed in 1760 in Venice. A Viennese performance of this earlier version could not be proven. Paper and copyists appearing in the score suggest that the present score was written in 1763. The same paper (P22) and the same copyists (WK71P, WK72D) appear in five other scores: Traetta_10008, Scarlatti_17849, Traetta_17853, Scolari_18042, Philidor_17896. They all contain works performed in Vienna in 1763 and are therefore dated to that year. |
