Liebe Kolleg:innen, wir bedanken uns sehr herzlich bei allen, die an unseren beiden Veranstaltungen teilgenommen und mitgewirkt haben: der Klausur der Wissenschaften 2026 sowie der Feier zum 10-jährigen Jubiläum der Forschungsförderung. Der intensive Austausch, die vielen anregenden Gespräche und die gemeinsame Reflexion über bisherige Entwicklungen und zukünftige Perspektiven haben einmal mehr gezeigt, wie vielfältig und engagiert die Forschungscommunity an der mdw ist. Einige Eindrücke von der Feier und aus dem vergangenen Jahrzehnt Forschungsförderung finden Sie auf unserer Website. Bei der Veranstaltung „Frauen in der Spitzenforschung“ des FWF – Fonds zur Förderung der wissenschaftlichen Forschung rund um den Internationaler Frauentag war die mdw besonders sichtbar vertreten! Sehr herzlich gratulieren wir Chae-Lin Kim (Music and Minorities Research Center - MMRC), die auch als Diskutantin an einem Podiumsgespräch zu wissenschaftlichen Karrieren teilnahm, und Bianca Schumann (Institut für Musikwissenschaft und Interpretationsforschung - IMI) zur Auszeichnung ihrer Forschung durch eine ESPRIT-Förderung. Passend dazu möchten wir auf den „Gender | Queer | Diversität“ Call 2026 der mdw aufmerksam machen: Bis 19.4.2026 können wissenschaftliche sowie künstlerisch-wissenschaftliche Projektvorschläge zu feministischen und diskriminierungskritischen Themen eingereicht werden. Am 2.3.2026 hat die Ringvorlesung Music & Digital Humanities erfolgreich begonnen. Sie deckt ein breites inhaltliches Spektrum von philosophischen Grundlagen bis zu gesellschaftlichen Auswirkungen mit Blick auf methodische Ansätze, Technologien, Infrastrukturen und Anwendungen im Umgang mit geisteswissenschaftlichen Datenbeständen ab. Gerne verweisen wir auf weitere Events und Calls im Bereich der Digital Humanities auf der Website von CLARIAH-AT. Wir laden Sie herzlich zum mdwForum Forschungsdaten ein, das am 26.03.2026, 10:00-12:00 Uhr online mit anschließendem gemeinsamem Mittagessen stattfindet. Nähere Informationen zum Programm folgen. Anmeldungen sind bereits unter forschungsfoerderung@mdw.ac.at möglich. Soeben ist bei mdwPress der von Arno Böhler und Susanne Valerie Granzer herausgegebene Sammelband „The Flavor of Thinking. Philosophy in Artistic Research – Artistic Research in Philosophy“ erschienen. Die Buchpräsentation findet im Rahmen des Festivals PHILOSOPHY ON STAGE #6: Notebook of the Heart statt, das vom 09.–12.04.2026 im brut nordwest veranstaltet wird. Schließlich dürfen wir den Call for Papers für die diesjährige isaResearch ankündigen, die vom 22.-25.07.2026 unter dem Titel „Across Moving Grounds: Music, Performing Arts, and the Politics of Mobility“ wieder am mdw Campus stattfinden wird. Dear colleagues, We would like to extend our warmest thanks to everyone who took part in and contributed to our two events: the Research Conclave 2026 and the celebration marking the 10th anniversary of our “Research Support” department. The in-depth discussions, the many stimulating conversations and the joint reflection on past developments and future prospects have once again demonstrated just how diverse and committed the research community at the mdw is. You can find some impressions of the celebration and the past decade of research funding on our website. The mdw was particularly well represented at the FWF – Austrian Science Fund’s event “Women in Top-Level Research” held around International Women’s Day! We warmly congratulate Chae-Lin Kim (Music and Minorities Research Centre), who also took part as a panellist in a discussion on academic careers, and Bianca Schumann (Institute for Musicology and Performance Studies – IMI) on the recognition of their research through an ESPRIT grant. In keeping with this, we would like to draw attention to the mdw’s “Gender | Queer | Diversity” Call 2026: proposals for academic and artistic-academic projects on feminist and anti-discrimination themes can be submitted until 19 April 2026. On 2 March 2026, the Music & Digital Humanities lecture series successfully commenced. It covers a broad spectrum of topics, ranging from philosophical foundations to societal impacts, with a focus on methodological approaches, technologies, infrastructures and applications in the handling of humanities data sets. We are pleased to refer you to further events and calls in the field of Digital Humanities on the website of CLARIAH-AT. We warmly invite you to the mdwForum Research Data, which will take place online on 26 March, 10:00-12:00 a.m., followed by a group lunch. Further details about the program will follow. Registration is already possible at forschungsfoerderung@mdw.ac.at. The anthology “The Flavor of Thinking. Philosophy in Artistic Research – Artistic Research in Philosophy”, edited by Arno Böhler and Susanne Valerie Granzer, has just been published by mdwPress. The book launch will take place as part of the festival PHILOSOPHY ON STAGE #6: Notebook of the Heart, which will be held from 9–12 April 2026 at brut nordwest. Finally, we are pleased to announce the call for papers for this year’s isaResearch, which will take place from 22–25 July 2026 under the title “Across Moving Grounds: Music, Performing Arts, and the Politics of Mobility”, once again at the mdw Campus.
