Interessante Events während des Sommersemesters
IN.TUNE-Woche an der mdw | 19.-27. März 2026
Derzeit (von 19. - 27. März 2026) findet an der mdw die von unserer Doktorandin Karolina Sawicka organisierte IN.TUNE-Woche statt. Studierende aus Den Haag, Oslo, Bukarest und Belgrad besuchen die mdw, um an einer interdisziplinären, praxis-orientierten Arbeits- und Lernwoche teilzunehmen. Veronika Morscher, Coretta Kurth, Nina Rotner und Leonhard Königseder halten als Repräsentant:innen unserer Abteilung jeweils Workshops.

Universitärer Zertifizierungslehrgang Musikphysiologie
Die Anmeldefrist für den neuen Jahrgang (Wintersemester 2026/27) läuft derzeit noch bis zum 29. April 2026. In dieser Zeit könnt ihr euch via mdw-online für einen Platz im Zertifizierungslehrgang bewerben. Weitere Informationen findet ihr hier.

Lange Nacht der Forschung | 24. April 2026
Am 24. April 2026 lädt Wien von 17:00 bis 23:00 Uhr zur „Langen Nacht der Forschung“ ein. Bei freiem Eintritt öffnen zahlreiche Einrichtungen ihre Türen und geben Einblicke in aktuelle Wissenschaft und Innovation. Auch die mdw ist dabei und präsentiert auf ihrem Campus ihre Forschung – unter anderem die Forschung von Dr. Matthias Bertsch und Dr. Alexandra Türk-Espitalier aus dem Motion-Emotion-Lab der Abteilung Musikphysiologie.

Workshop und Vortrag: Fokale Dystonie | 29. Mai 2026
Am 29. Mai 2026 kommt Dr. Joaquín Farias an die mdw, um einen Vortrag zum Thema Fokale Dystonie zu halten. Dr. Farias beschäftigt sich seit 30 Jahren intensiv mit Dystonie-Betroffenen und hat ein umfangreiches Rehabilitations-Programm entwickelt, das inzwischen in 17 Sprachen angeboten wird. Seine revolutionären Ansätze haben bereits vielen Menschen mit (Musiker:innen-)Dystonie bis hin zur Asymptomatik geholfen.
Diese Veranstaltung findet in Kooperation mit Kunst und Gesundheit statt.

Ringvorlesung Dr. Michael Bohne | 15. Juni 2026
In Zusammenarbeit mit Kunst und Gesundheit wird Dr. med. Michael Bohne am 15. Juni 2026 eine Ringvorlesung zum Thema "Zeigen, was man kann - Auftrittscoaching mit PEP" (PEP = Prozess- und Embodiment-fokussierte Psychologie) bei uns an der mdw halten. Dr. med. Michael Bohne (Facharzt für Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie, Leiter des Fortbildungsinstituts PEP) ist der bedeutendste Vertreter der Klopftechniken in Deutschland und hat diese entmystifiziert und prozessorientiert weiterentwickelt. Er ist seit ca. 30 Jahren Auftrittscoach und hat viele Orchester, Musikhochschulen und Orchesterakademien zum Thema mentale Stärke trainiert, sowie Hunderte von Instrumentalist:innen und Sänger:innen im Auftrittscoaching unterstützt. Im Rahmen dieses Vortrags wird er auch live Musiker:innen coachen, die mit dem Thema Bühnenstress zu kämpfen haben.

ÖGfMM Symposium Salzburg | 10.-12. April 2026
Die österreichsiche Gesellschaft für Musik und Medizin veranstaltet von 10.-12. April 2026 in Salzburg das Symposium "Beyond the Score", in dem es um viele Themen rund um das Thema Gesundheit & Perfomance in der Kunst geht. Auch viele Lehrende unserer Abteilung werden dort Workshops, Vorträge und Posterpräsentationen halten. Mehr Informationen zum Event findet ihr hier.

Rückschau
Reise nach Shanghai, China
Auf Einladung des “Global Forum on Music, AI & Health” reisten Coretta Kurth und Veronika Morscher vom 20.-25. Oktober 2025 als Repräsentantinnen der mdw nach Shanghai, China. Neben einer Round-Table-Diskussion mit chinesischen Expert:innen zum Thema Musik, Gesundheit und der Nutzung von KI sowie Vorträgen und Workshops im Rahmen der China Music Messe besuchten sie außerdem das Shanghai Conservatory und arbeiteten mit Studierenden vor Ort in Form von Vorträgen und eines Workshops. Es konnten wertvolle Kontakte geknüpft und eindrucksvolle Erfahrungen gesammelt werden.
Die Reise wurde vom BMEIA sowie durch das Erasmus+ Programm der mdw unterstützt.
Allen mdw-Studierenden, -Lehrenden und -Verwaltungsangestellten wünschen wir alles Gute für das Sommersemester 2026! An alle extern Interessierten: Wir hoffen, wir sehen uns auf dem einen oder anderen Event!

Interesting events during the summer semester
IN.TUNE week at mdw | March 19th-27th 2026
Currently (from March 19th-27th 2026), the IN.TUNE week, organized by our doctoral student Karolina Sawicka, is taking place at mdw. Students from The Hague, Oslo, Bucharest, and Belgrade are at mdw to participate in an interdisciplinary, practice-oriented week of work and learning. Veronika Morscher, Coretta Kurth, Nina Rotner, and Leonhard Königseder are each leading workshops and representing our department.

University Certification Program in Music Physiology
The application deadline for the new cohort (winter semester 2026/27) is currently open until April 29, 2026. During this period, you can apply for a place in the certificate program via mdw online. Further information can be found here.

Long Night of Research | April 24th 2026
On April 24th 2026, Vienna invites visitors to the “Long Night of Research” from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm. With free admission, numerous institutions open their doors and offer insights into current science and innovation. mdw is also taking part, presenting its research on campus—including work from the Motion-Emotion Lab of the Department of Music Physiology.

Workshop & Lecture: Focal Dystonia | May 29th 2026
On May 29th 2026, Dr. Joaquín Farias will come to mdw to give a lecture on focal dystonia. Dr. Farias has been working intensively with people affected by dystonia for 30 years and has developed a comprehensive rehabilitation program that is now offered in 17 languages. His revolutionary approaches have already helped many people with (musician’s) dystonia, in some cases even leading to complete remission of symptoms.
This event takes place in cooperation with Kunst und Gesundheit.

Lecture Series: Dr. Michael Bohne | June 15th 2026
In cooperation with Art and Health, Dr. med. Michael Bohne will give a lecture in our lecture series at mdw on June 15, 2026, on the topic “Showing What You Can Do – Performance Coaching with PEP” (PEP = Process- and Embodiment-focused Psychology).
Dr. med. Michael Bohne (specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy and director of the PEP training institute) is the leading representative of tapping techniques in Germany. He has demystified these methods and further developed them with a strong process-oriented approach. For around 30 years, he has worked as a performance coach, training many orchestras, music universities, and orchestra academies in mental strength, as well as supporting hundreds of instrumentalists and singers in performance coaching. As part of this lecture, he will also coach musicians live who are dealing with stage fright.

ÖGfMM Symposium Salzburg | April 10th-12th 2026
The Austrian Society for Music and Medicine is organizing the symposium “Beyond the Score” in Salzburg from April 10th–12th 2026, focusing on a wide range of topics related to health and performance in the arts. Many members of our department will also be contributing with workshops, lectures and poster presentations.

Review
Trip to Shanghai, China
At the invitation of the Global Forum on Music, AI & Health, Coretta Kurth and Veronika Morscher traveled to Shanghai, China, from October 20 to 25, 2025, as representatives of mdw. In addition to participating in a roundtable discussion with Chinese experts on music, health, and the use of AI, they also gave lectures and workshops as part of the China Music Fair. They further visited the Shanghai Conservatory, where they worked with students through lectures and a workshop. The trip enabled valuable connections to be established and provided many enriching experiences.
It was supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs (BMEIA) as well as by the mdw’s Erasmus+ program.
We wish all mdw students, faculty, and administrative staff all the best for the 2026 summer semester! To all those interested from outside the mdw: We hope to see you at one of our events in the future!
