mdw Writing Retreat
The Research Support Office is again organising an academic mdw Writing Retreat at Refugium Hochstrass from February 16–19, 2026.
Application is now possible until December 15, 2025.
The mdw Writing Retreat is aimed at all mdw academic staff who would like to take time for concentrated writing in an inspiring and supportive environment.
Goal of the retreat:
In a relaxed, natural atmosphere away from the stress of everyday life, you can concentrate on your scientific texts or applications. The retreat is designed to provide you with space for productive writing, creative thinking, and exchange with colleagues.
What you can expect:
- Structured writing time
- Comfortable accommodation with full board
- Relaxation offers (such as mindfulness training or yoga session)
- Formats for peer exchange (e.g. Walk & Talk)
- Support session and, if needed, individual counseling on topics such as time management and overcoming writer's block
Registration and details:
The number of participants is limited to 15 in order to ensure a productive working atmosphere. Participation is only possible for the entire duration (arrival at Refugium Hochstrass in the morning of February 16/departure in the afternoon of February 19).
Register until December 15, 2025 by emailing forschungsfoerderung@mdw.ac.at with a short description of your writing project and your goals for the retreat.
You will receive the binding confirmation after the deadline and further information about the program in January.
We make every effort to support researchers with care responsibilities by providing care for children. Please let us know your needs when you register so that we can work with you to find a suitable solution.
Costs:
The costs for accommodation, meals and workshops will be covered by the Research Support Office, and, if possible, a joint journey to Hochstrass will be organized. We request co-financing by the respective institute in the amount of €250.
