Artistic Intervention
The project “Sound as Score – selten verbindet” brings together artistic practice, community work, and research. It takes place within the course “Presentation and Social Engagement” led by Martin Schlögl. Students collaborate with people living with rare diseases from the network of Pro Rare Austria. At the centre of the project is a shared artistic process that explores how music can create encounters and foster social visibility.
The project is carried out in cooperation with the international research project “Sound as Score”, funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) (Grant DOI: 10.55776/AR824).
Together with the participants, students develop musical contributions that will be realised in a live performance. The performance is based on audio scores, which open up improvisatory and exploratory approaches beyond traditional musical notation.
The project aims to offer students a practice-oriented introduction to working with communities, in which music becomes a medium for dialogue, participation, and artistic exchange.
