Section 99 Paragraph 5-7 University Act

Qualification positions, also known as "Tenure-track positions", are limited to six years and allow for the conclusion of a qualification agreement.

A selection committee reviews the applications and invites suitable candidates to presentations. The selection committee then draws up a proposal with at least the three best-suited candidates. After consulting the university professors of the department on the selection committee’s proposal, the Rector selects the most suitable candidate. If the performance demonstrated by the holder of the qualification position gives reason to expect that the required high level of qualification will be attained, the Rector must offer them a qualification agreement no later than 24 months after the conclusion of the employment contract. The qualification goals are determined individually according to the recommendations of a Qualification Advisory Board. These individuals are referred to as "Assistant Professors". Those who meet the set qualification targets within the stipulated period will be granted a permanent position as "Associate Professor".

Further information can be found in the Rectorate's guidelines on positions with a qualification agreement in accordance with Section 99 Para. 5 University Act and in Section 27 of the Collective Agreement for Employees of Universities 2024 - KV.
